Pizza Sauce
This is an easy pizza sauce to accompany our homemade pizza dough. It is simple and can be frozen alongside the pizza dough so we can have pizza whenever we want.

Note:
Sauce – the sauce is not cooked because it gets cooked when you cook the pizza. Double cooking can give the sauce unwanted discoloration.
Crushed tomatoes – use whichever brand you like. If you use one with basil included, you may not need to add the amount noted on this recipe. Taste it to see if you like it. Alternatively, you can buy whole canned tomatoes and crush it yourself. This adds a step to the process, but it works very well.

Find crushed tomatoes cans on Amazon.
Freezing – place the sauce in freezer safe bag and lay flat to freeze or place in a canning jar with straight sides and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight.
Budget Bite:
Cost of the sauce:
• Can crushed tomatoes – $1.87
• Basil – 0.02
• Thyme – 0.05
• Oregano – 0.01
• Garlic powder – 0.02
Total cost $1.97 for 28 oz or about 0.16 per pizza (varies depending on sauce you like your pizza)
