Salted Caramel

I just realized I have not posted this recipe on my site. It was one of my originals on my channel. This is a simple salted caramel. It’s great for dessert toppings and recently I’ve used in my crunch bars.

It’s a homemade ooey-gooey goodness that can be used as a dip for your apples, drizzle over your ice cream or if you are like me, pour it all over your mother’s birthday apple cake. Yum. (By the way, I was not allowed to take mom’s birthday cake leftovers to work because we wanted more for ourselves. )

Note:
• Let it be: Stir it once when you add sugar and water into the pot and then let it go! Refrain from stirring and this will allow the sugar to caramelize.

Salted Caramel Sauce

1 cup of sugar
¼ cup of water
½ cup of heavy cream
2 tablespoon of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
½ teaspoon of salt

  • In a sauce pan over medium heat, add sugar and water. Stir once and let it be…on medium to medium high heat for about 8-10 minutes until it turns amber in color. Whisk in the heavy cream and let cook for another minute or two. Then remove from heat. Add the butter, vanilla extract and salt.
  • Serve warm and enjoy.
  • Store in fridge for up to 2 weeks.
